THE FUTURE DOES NOT COMPUTE

Thank you for welcoming me from a long day at work with such joy. You thought no one would hear you. You thought no one would see you, but I was present and truly, it scared the shit out of me. Thank you for letting out the biggest fart out your window as you searched for midnight snack wearing only your blue boxers.

My friend’s band just recently released their new album “The Musician” and they have used one of my pictures for the cover. The band, Looking Glass Wars is an alternative indie rock band from Westchester NY. Brandon, their singer is a good friend of mine that I met years ago while designing a website for another friend’s band.

The cover they used was a photograph I took back in 2006 in a alley near City Hall in NYC.

The album is now on sale in iTunes or you can listen to some of their tracks on MySpace.

Is it just me or is Facebook getting a bit too crowded? Ever since they opened its doors the public and with the addition of their 3rd party apps it seems like flocks of MySpacers and migrating to Facebook. It’s great but the site but I feel like MySpacers and Facebookians come from two different mentalities. Being on both social networks, I feel like hardcore MySpacers should stay on MySpace with their highly saturated useless content profiles and leave Facebook alone. I am seeing the same trends on arise on Facebook just as they did on MySpace, people adding lots of crappy applications to their profiles. I mean c’mon, when I takes me like 5 minutes just to find your damn Wall then we got a problem. I think it’s time to jump ship and find the next thing…once again…

I was trying to think about what I enjoyed the most about a cold morning on my way to work. Here are a few things that just popped into my mind: Holding that warm coffee cup, steaming endlessly while I wait on the station for the train. Watching strangers awkwardly huddle together without touching or making any eye contact. Lighting the first cigarette of the day feels so damn good (fuck, I gotta quit). Turning your back to the wind as it picks up in your direction. Chap-stick. Feeling your hands start to go numb because you forgot your gloves. Seeing your breath every time you exhale. Shaking your legs almost as if you had to pee. Repeating in your head over and over again “Fuck it’s cold”. Yeah, that is why cold mornings are great….

Shhh….don’t tell the RIAA but I have been ceaselessly listening to Manu Chao’s newest album La Radiolina, set to come out early in September. The album is a bit watered down and the music has become very repetitive and similar to previous albums except for a few songs that are more rock influenced ala Mano Negra, his previous band in the 80’s. Just like any new album, it will grow on me and I can’t wait for the actual release date to go buy the album and support this amazing musician.

So lately my blog has be plagued with spammed comments, it got to a point where I had to close the comments completely. So until I fix this you will have to register in order to comment. Annoying yes, I hate it too.
